Bland’s Walk-Off Home Run Lifts Toombs County to Dramatic Victory

Toombs County delivered another memorable finish Monday night, earning a dramatic 1-0 walk-off victory at home.

With the game scoreless entering the bottom of the eighth inning, Taylor Bland sent a solo home run over the center-field fence to give Toombs County the win.

Bland also delivered a dominant pitching performance, going the distance for the Bulldogs. She allowed six hits and no runs over eight innings while striking out three and walking none.

“That was a complete team win from the first pitch to the last pitch,” said Coach Brant. “We kept battling, stayed composed, and trusted each other. Taylor coming through with that walk-off was a special moment, but the way our girls played defense and competed all night is what made this win possible. I’m really proud of this group.”

Toombs County finished with four hits. Peyton Bland led the way with two hits in three at-bats, while Taylor Bland went 1-for-4 with the game-winning home run and the only RBI of the night.

The Bulldogs committed no errors during the eight-inning battle. Saige White led the team with 15 defensive chances.

Toombs County will look to carry the momentum into Tuesday’s road matchup at Vidalia.

One swing provided the winning run, but eight innings of pitching, defense and resilience powered the Bulldogs to the hard-fought victory.
