Bulldog shortstop Trayvone Harris prepares to tag a Trojan trying to advance to second base

Bulldog Baseball Battles Hard but Falls Short Against Coffee Trojans 4-2

Lyons, GA. – February 16,2024 | Coach Derek James

The Toombs County Bulldogs baseball team put up a valiant fight but ultimately fell 4-2 to the Coffee Trojans on Thursday, despite outhitting their opponents 6-4. Strong pitching from the Trojans and timely hits kept the Bulldogs at bay.

The Trojans drew first blood in the first inning and added another run in the second, building an early lead. A third run in the third further extended their advantage. Despite the deficit, the Bulldogs never gave up. They managed to score two runs, with Trayvone Harris and MJ Burton each driving in one. However, they couldn’t string together enough hits to overcome the Trojans’ pitching.

The Bulldogs played error-free defense, turning a double play, but the Trojans’ pitching proved effective. Their starter threw five strong innings, while their relief pitcher shut down any late-game rally attempts.

While the loss is disappointing, the Bulldogs can take heart from their strong offensive showing and solid defense. They’ll look to learn from this game and bounce back in their next matchup.
