Bulldog Baseball Cruises Past Dublin 12-1

Lyons, GA. – February 20, 2024 | Coach Derek James

On Tuesday, the Toombs County Bulldogs baseball team cruised past the Dublin Fighting Irish 12-1! Brantley Upshaw led the offensive charge, going 3-for-4 with a double, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored.

After scoring first in the opening frame, the Bulldogs exploded for 11 runs in the third inning. A string of walks, errors, and timely hits put the game out of reach early. Upshaw’s double was a key highlight, driving in two runs, while MJ Burton’s sacrifice fly and Tucker Braddy’s RBI single added to the damage.

Not only did Upshaw shine at the plate, but he also dominated on the mound. He pitched four strong innings, allowing just one unearned run while striking out five. TJ Stanley came on in relief to slam the door shut, pitching a scoreless inning with three strikeouts.

The Bulldogs displayed discipline at the plate, drawing seven walks to go along with their nine hits. This patient approach put pressure on the Dublin pitching staff and helped create scoring opportunities.

With this convincing win, the Bulldogs are riding a wave of momentum. They’ll look to carry this energy into their next matchup at Bryan County on Wednesday.
