The Toombs County Bulldogs jumped on the Pierce County Bears early on Tuesday afternoon, but lost 11-5 in a game that the Bears pulled away in late.
The game was tied at five with Pierce County batting in the top of the sixth when a Bear singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs. Pierce County would add three more runs in the fifth and another run in the sixth to finish things off.
In the first inning, Toombs County got their offense started when Trayvone Harris hit a solo shot over the centerfield fence. We would add another three runs in the third inning with Tucker Braddy contributing with an RBI double. The Dawgs would racked up ten hits on the day with Will Watts, Jesus Quintero, and Harris all had multiple hits. Watts went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Bulldogs in hits.
Harris took the loss for the Dawgs on the mound. The right-hander allowed 11 hits and ten runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six.
The Bulldogs are back in action for game two tomorrow night at Pierce County. Game time is set for 6 PM.
