The Toombs County Bulldog Baseball team’s season came to an end this past Saturday with two losses to a tough Jeff Davis team.
In the first game, the Bulldogs watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 6-0 loss. The Dawgs struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Jeff Davis, giving up six runs.
Trayvone Harris was on the mound for Toombs County. The pitcher allowed six hits and four runs over three innings, striking out two. Jesus Quintero came in and threw three innings of relief out of the bullpen.
Quintero and Mosley each managed the only two hits in game one for the Bulldogs.
Game two of the series was much of the same, with the Bulldogs falling behind early and not being able to fight back in a 5-1 loss.
Jeff Davis scored on a single in the first, but the Dawgs would tie the game up at 1-1 in the bottom of the first inning with a Will Watts single on a 1-1 count. Harris would score from second on the play. This would be the only run the Bulldogs would be able to manage on the day.
Senior Lucas O’Conner took the loss for Toombs County on the mound. The right-hander went five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out two. Senior Gavin Hall would get two innings of relief work, allow one run on two hits while striking out one.
The Bulldogs are grateful for the senior leadership of Dawson Brantley, Gavin Hall, Lucas O’Conner, and Wil Watts. These four seniors exemplified tremendous leadership and will be missed.
