On Tuesday afternoon, the Toombs County Bulldogs defeated Tattnall County 9-3 in the first of a three game region series.
The game was tied at three with Toombs County batting in the top of the sixth when an error scored two runs for the Dawgs, pushing the lead to 5-3. The Bulldogs would add another four runs in the seventh inning to secure the win. The big inning led off with a pinch hit single by Cameron Ledford. Ryder Sears would follow with a single and Brantley Upshaw would also reach base on a Tattnall County error.
Upshaw led the Bulldogs to victory at the plate by driving in four runs. He went 3-for-5 at the plate and hit a home run in the third inning.
Lucas O’Conner led the Bulldogs on the mound. The righty only surrendered three runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out ten and walking zero.
The Dawgs collected ten hits on the day. Upshaw, Sears, and Jesus Quintero each had multiple hits for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs face the Tattnall County Warriors at home today in the second game of the crucial region series at 5:45 PM.
