On Wednesday night, the Toombs County Baseball team opened the season hosting the AAAAAAA Richmond Hill Wildcats, in a game that was dominated by good pitching. Unfortunately, Richmond Hill was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over the Bulldogs winning 2-0.

For the Bulldogs, Lucas O’Conner started the game for Toombs and gave up 1 run over 4 innings striking out 2 and walking none. Gavin Hall and Harris entered the game in relief for the Dawgs, throwing two innings and one inning respectively.  Hall struck out 4 and allowed the other run in his two innings of work.

A single by Trayvone Harris in the first inning was a positive for Toombs County Bulldogs Varsity. It was also great to see Brantley Upshaw get an at bat late in the game had hit a line drive that was caught by a Wildcat second baseman. That was Upshaw’s first at bat in a few months.

The Toombs County Bulldog Baseball Team will play again next Tuesday, when they travel over to Sylvania to face off against Screven County at 5:30 PM.
