Bulldogs Bounce Back, Secure First Region Win in Game Two Against Pierce County

The Toombs County Bulldogs baseball team bounced back from their previous loss to Pierce County with a 7-4 victory on Wednesday, securing their first region win of the season.

Pierce County got off to a quick start in the first inning, scoring one run on a wild pitch by Bulldogs’ starter, Trayvone Harris. However, the Bulldogs responded swiftly in the bottom half of the inning. A single by Tucker Braddy plated a run, giving the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead.

Pierce County tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the third inning, but the Bulldogs wouldn’t be denied. In the bottom of the third, they exploded for four runs to take control of the game. Braddy singled again to drive in a run, while a groundout by Ryder Sears and a key two-run single by Jesus Quintero extended the lead to 6-2.

Trayvone Harris was stellar on the mound for Toombs County, pitching six strong innings. He allowed only two unearned runs on one hit while striking out seven batters and walking five. TJ Stanley came on in relief and tossed a scoreless inning, striking out three and walking one.

The Bulldogs collected nine hits in the game, led by Braddy’s impressive 2-for-3 performance with three RBIs. Sears and Quintero also contributed with key RBIs.

The Bulldogs will finish the series at Pierce County today, Thursday, at 6pm
