Bulldogs Edge Out Brantley County in Tight 1-0 Pitching Duel to Win Game Two of Region Series.

Lyons, GA. – April 5, 2024 | Head Coach Derek James

The Toombs County Bulldogs (14-7 overall, 8-3 region) edged out the Brantley County Herons in a 1-0 pitcher’s duel on Thursday.

TJ Stanley was dominant on the mound for Toombs County, tossing a masterful six and two-thirds innings. He struck out a whopping 12 batters while surrendering only two hits and no runs. Stanley walked four batters but was able to navigate out of any jams to secure the victory.

The game’s lone run came in the bottom of the second inning when Kipp Mosley laced a double that plated Tucker Braddy after Braddy reached on a hit of his own. Mosley’s clutch hit proved to be all the offense Toombs County needed on this day.

Ryder Sears came on in relief for Toombs County and closed out the game to preserve the shutout, retiring one batter on a flyout to center. Defensively, the DAWGS were solid and did enough to get the job done.

The win gives Toombs County more momentum heading into game three of the series versus Brantley County on Friday at 5:30 pm as they look to pull off the series sweep.
