The Bulldogs hit the road Friday in a must-win region matchup at Memorial Stadium in Savannah versus the Windsor Forest Knights in the two schools first-ever meeting against each other.
Windsor Forest took the opening kickoff and the Bulldog Red Bullet Defense went to work. Windsor Forest came out throwing the ball completing their first two passes for 18 yards and then added another 13-yard run before the Bulldog Defense shut the drive down and forced a Knight punt. The Bulldog offense made quick work on their opening drive with runs of 15 and 3 by Senior Tank Morris before a play-action pass play left Junior Caden Marsh wide open for a Senior Gavin Hall touchdown pass. On the play, Marsh raced 47 yards to the end zone to give Toombs County the lead, a lead they would hold onto all night. After holding the Knights to a 3 and out, Toombs County took over on the Knight’s 40-yard line. Two plays later, Hall found Sophomore LaGonza Heyward on a 33-yard touchdown pass. Angel Morales added another point after to extend the lead to 14-0.
Senior Tamarian McArthur took over the ground game for the Dogs and added two more scores before the half on runs of 10 and 43 to give the Dogs a 28-0 lead. The Knights tried to move the ball in the final seconds through the air but Sophomore Zyreese Scott stepped in front of a Knight pass and returned the interception 38 yards for the final Bulldog TD of the half giving the Toombs County Bulldogs the 35-0 lead.
The second half was played with a running clock but the Bulldogs did punch in another score on McArthur’s 3rd touchdown of the night, which was a 17-yard scamper.
Toombs County continues to play its best football of the season. The Red Bullet defense pitched their 4th Shutout of the season and held Windsor Forest to negative yards.
Up next, we face rival Vidalia at Jacky Jones Field at Booster Stadium in another must-win game. Be sure to come out and support the Dogs this coming Friday.
