Bulldogs Overpower Tattnall County Warriors in Dominant 9-2 Victory

Lyons, GA. – March 20, 2024 | Head Coach Derek James

The Toombs County Bulldogs (9-5 Overall, 3-1 Region) put on a dominating performance on Tuesday, crushing the Tattnall County Warriors by a score of 9-2. The Bulldogs’ offense erupted with a flurry of runs, while their pitching staff stifled the Warriors’ bats.

The Bulldogs wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning when Cameron Ledford singled, plating a run to give the Bulldogs the early lead. The Bulldogs continued to pile on the pressure in the second inning. A single by Brantley Upshaw followed by a dropped third strike by Tattnall County allowed the Bulldogs to extend their lead further.

The game truly broke open in the bottom of the third inning when Trayvone Harris launched a towering home run over the left-field wall, driving in three runs and putting the Bulldogs firmly in control. Harris wasn’t just a force at the plate; he also earned the win on the mound for the Bulldogs. He pitched five solid innings, allowing only two runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking three.

Harris led the Bulldogs offensively, driving in three runs and going a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate. Tucker Braddy also chipped in with two hits and an RBI. The team displayed patience at the plate, drawing six walks, with Jenkins leading the way with two.

The Toombs County bullpen held the Warriors at bay late in the game. Jackson Jenkins came on in relief and tossed two scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out one batter while walking one.

The Bulldogs’ defense also played a role in the victory, turning a double play to help shut down any potential Tattnall County rallies late in the game.

This win is a significant boost for the Toombs County Baseball team as they continue through region play. Currently, they sit at 3rd place in the region with a 3-1 record. They play game two of the three game series on Wednesday at Tattnall County. Game time is set for 6 pm.
