There is no better time to BE A DOG! There has been a lot going on in Toombs County Bulldog Country after coming off of a 6-5 record, third place finish is Region 3AA, and first round playoff loss to Putnam County in 2022. The coaching staff has seen some changes with Coach Buddy Martin moving into the Head Coach role. Coach Martin has been the defensive coordinator for the past 7 seasons at Toombs County High. Remaining on staff from last season are Coach Logan Daves as the Co-Offensive Coordinator coaching the offensive line and running the weight room, Coach Wesley Bratton coaching the inside linebackers, Coach Ken Dixon coaching the running backs, Coach Cornelius Bullard coaching the defensive line, and Coach Rigoberto Tinoco coaching the special teams. New additions to the staff include Coach Jeff Smothers as the Defensive Coordinator coaching the defensive backs, Coach Jared Hamlin as the Co-Offensive Coordinator coaching the Quarterbacks, Coach Nick Hayes coaching the outside linebackers, and Coach Ridge Ferrell coaching the wide receivers.
“I am pumped about the coaching staff we have been blessed to put together. Each of these men understand the big picture and are seeking to build young men, not just football players. They operate at a high standard and make me a better man and coach daily.” – Coach Martin
The Bulldogs will be led this season by seniors Hunter Barwick, Keshon Deloach, Braylen Dietrich, A’kheem Holland, Mike Jones, Brandon McCall, JaQuain McCall, Brock Nobles, Keon Robinson, Aden Turner, and Dawson Van Vleck. On the offensive side of the football, look for seniors Brock Nobles, Brandon McCall, Dawson Van Vleck, and Aden Turner to anchor the unit along with underclassmen Augustus Underwood, Javier Gonzalez, Ben Bailey, Dakota Malone, Marcos Lopez, Da’Tavious Jordan, and Maurice Oglesby. Through the spring and early summer the two standouts that set themselves apart at quarterback are junior TJ Stanley and sophomore Hayden Roy. The Dogs have a stable of young running backs with junior Dabvn Wadley and sophomore Kammari Williams leading the way. The wide receiver position group might be the best and deepest the Bulldogs have seen in years with seniors Keshon Deloach and JaQuain McCall, juniors Lagonza Hayward and Mike Polke, and sophomores Gavin Fletcher and Justice Wilds. The Red Bullet Defense has some big shoes to fill with the graduation of four year standouts Tank Morris and Wil Watts. You can expect to see senior defensive lineman Brock Nobles, Hunter Barwick, and Brandon McCall wreaking havoc up front. Leading the way at linebacker are juniors Zireese Scott and Dabvn Wadley; sophomores Hayden Roy, Kammari Williams and Ryder Sears; and freshman Hayden Johnson. The defensive secondary is loaded with talent in seniors Keshon Deloach and JaQuain McCall, juniors Lagonza Hayward and Mike Polke, sophomore Gavin Fletcher, and freshman Alex Scott.
“I’ve said this many times over the seven years that I have been coaching at Toombs County High, the two best things about it here are the community support and the kids. The Toombs County community shows up and shows out over and over again for our kids…and our kids show up every day. This group of players are here every time the doors are open. They let us coach them hard and push them to meet high expectations. It is exciting when you have a group that is not only talented but committed and hard working.” – Coach Martin
