On Thursday, the Lady Net Dogs traveled to Bryan County looking to continue its hot streak in a non-region matchup.
It turned out to be a good and bad night for the Lady Net Dogs as the JV lost for the first time this year and are now 4-1. Bryan County’s JV won the match 2-1. The Toombs County JV started strong winning the first set 25-15 but lost the second set in a close battle 26-24. They dropped the third set of matchplay 15-12.
Madison Brown led the way with 14 service points, 7 aces, and 2 Kills. Alivia Patrick had 9 service points and 7 aces. Other contributions were made by Emma Wright (8 service points and 6 aces), Estrella Barbosa (5 assists), and Lasagessa Thomas, who led the team with 3 kills.
On a positive note, the Varsity Lady Net Dogs continued to play strong and defeated Bryan County 25-23 and 25-19 in two straight sets. In the match, Zariaha Newkirk and Anabel Cruz contributed in major ways. Newkirk would finish the match with 10 service points, 8 aces, 2 digs, and 9 kills. Cruz contributed with 6 service points, 3 aces, and 9 assists.
In the match of the night, the Net Dogs faced New Hampstead. This was a hard-fought match that went our way 25-23 and 25-22. Again, Cruz and Newkirk led the way with Anabel putting up 14 service points, 6 aces, and 10 assists, and Zariaha finishing the match with 5 service points, 3 aces, and 9 kills.
The Lady Net Dog Varsity group is now 11-2 overall and 5-2 in the region.
