On Thursday, the Toombs County Lady Dawgs Softball team secured another region victory with a 5-0 win against Brantley County.
The Lady Dawgs set the tone early, scoring in the top of the first inning through two timely singles. The team’s initial run came as Kassidy Brantley delivered a crucial single.
Throughout the game, the Lady Dawgs displayed their batting strength, accumulating 11 hits. Standout performances at the plate included Aniston Powell, Emerson Powell, and Cyleigh Enis, each securing two hits. Moreover, Mishi Smith, batting from the eighth spot, contributed two RBIs with a 1-for-4 effort. Notably, the team maintained a strong defensive presence, ensuring no errors on the field.
On the mound, Shay Stringer was instrumental in the Lady Dawgs’ win. The southpaw pitcher allowed just three hits and kept Brantley County scoreless over seven innings. Her performance was further highlighted with nine strikeouts and just one walk.
The Lady Dawgs finish the regular season next week with two region games at home against Tattnall County (Monday) and Pierce County (Tuesday). They play their final game of the year at Metter on Wednesday. The currently sit at 14-8 and 8-5 in region play.
