The Lady Dawgs fell to Appling County 3-0 in a region game on Tuesday night. The Pirates scored two runs in the top of the first inning and held the Lady Dawgs scoreless for the remainder of the game.

The Bulldogs had a few chances to score, but Appling County’s defense was too strong. In the bottom of the first, Shay Stringer hit a single on a 1-2 count, but the Lady Dawgs were unable to capitalize. In the bottom of the sixth, Kassidy Brantley reached on an error with no outs, but the Lady Dawgs were once again unable to get any runs across the plate.

Shay had a strong performance, going 1-for-3 with a single and also contributing with seven strikeouts from the pitcher’s circle. Despite the loss, the Lady Dawgs put up a good fight and will look to bounce back in their next game when they travel to Vidalia on Thursday.
