Lyons, GA. – August 23, 2024 | Coach Hayne Brant

Shay Stringer delivered another dominant performance on Thursday, striking out 14 batters and leading the Toombs County Lady Dawgs to a 9-1 victory over the St. Vincent’s Saints. Stringer was nearly untouchable, allowing no hits and just one run over five innings while walking two.

Offensively, Casey Cantwell shined, going 3-for-3 at the plate. Cantwell’s three singles—one each in the first, third, and fourth innings—helped propel the Lady Dawgs to victory.

St. Vincent’s got on the board first in the top of the first inning, but the Lady Dawgs quickly responded. A single by Cantwell in the bottom of the first gave Toombs County a 2-1 lead, and they never looked back.

The Lady Dawgs extended their lead in the third inning with a flurry of hits. Singles by Cantwell, Natalie Quintero, and Brinley Miller, along with a groundout by Taylor Bland, each brought in a run, putting Toombs County firmly in control.

Cantwell also contributed on the mound, pitching a scoreless inning in relief with three strikeouts and no walks.

The Lady Dawgs racked up 10 hits in the game, with Cyleigh Ennis also collecting two hits in three at-bats. Defensively, Toombs County was flawless, committing no errors.

Next up, the Lady Dawgs will face ECI on Monday as they look to continue their strong season.
