Lyons, GA. – September 9, 2022
On Thursday, the Toombs County Lady Dog Softball team traveled to Reidsville to square off in the second region of three region games versus the Tattnall County Warriors. While both teams were strong on the rubber, Tattnall County was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Toombs County winning by a score of 1-0.
Shay Stringer started the game for Toombs and allowed 4 hits, but only 2 of those hits made it out of the infield. Shay pitched all 6 innings giving up one unearned run while striking out 4 and walking none.
Aniston Powell led the Lady Dogs with 2 hits in the night. Another bright spot for the Dogs was the defensive effort by the freshman shortstop Emerson Powell.
We have to do a better job at the plate. We had chances to manufacture a couple of runs but we were not able to get the job done. Both Powell sisters played outstanding. We need to build off of their efforts tonight as we go into a tough region week next week.

The Dogs look to turn things around this weekend as they play in the Jeff Davis Tournament on Friday evening and Portal’s Diamond Day on Thursday.
