The Toombs County Lady Dogs lost the lead late in a 5-3 defeat to Brantley County on Tuesday. The Dogs were up 1-0 going into the 6th inning but gave up 3 runs in the 6th. After a comeback in the bottom of the 6th to it up 3-3, Brantley County was able to score 2 more against Krista Cantwell to win it in the 7th.
The Lady Dogs got things started in the second inning when Shay Stringer drove in a run with a single. Toombs County collected nine hits on the day. Stringer and Autumn Jarriel both had multiple hits with Stringer going 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the way.
Stringer was also strong in the pitcher’s circle for the Bulldogs. The southpaw allowed four hits and three runs over six innings, striking out four and walking one. Krista Cantwell threw one inning out of the bullpen and gave up 2 runs.
