Lady Dogs Lose a Heartbreaker in Pierce County 6-5

Lyons, GA. – September 23, 2022 | Coach Hayne Brant

A walk-off left the Toombs County Lady Dog Softball team on the wrong end of a 6-5 defeat to Pierce County on Thursday.  The game was tied at five with Pierce County batting in the bottom of the seventh when a Piece County single scored one run.

The Lady Dawgs lost despite out-hitting Pierce County nine to seven.

Shay Stringer toed the rubber for the Lady Dogs surrendering six runs on seven hits over six and two-thirds innings. She struck out two.

For the Lady Dogs, Stringer, Riley Lumley, and Nora Grace Mercer each had multiple hits. Stringer went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Toombs County.

We scored 4 in the top of the 7th inning to take the lead but could not make the plays in the bottom half to finish them off. Proud of how the girls never gave up.
