Lady Dogs Lose to Appling County 7-1

Lyons, GA. – September 14, 2022

On Tuesday, the Toombs County Lady Dog Softball team traveled to Baxley for a region match-up with region frontrunner, Appling County.

The Lady Dogs fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 7-1 loss. Appling County took the lead on a single in the second inning and would score in every inning after but the sixth.

Toombs county struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Appling County, giving up seven runs. The Lady Dogs could not get their bats going as Appling county’s pitcher threw all 7 innings striking out 15.

Shay Stringer led things off in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs. Stringer allowed five hits and five runs over 3 1/3 innings, striking out four.  Casey Cantwell threw 2 2/3 innings out of the bullpen.
