Soperton, GA. – September 6, 2022
The Toombs County Lady Dog Softball team traveled to and defeated Treutlen 11-0 as two Bulldog pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Shaylin Stringer and Krista Cantwell only allowed 1 hit in the shutout win.
The Lady Dawgs got on the board in the first inning, as an error and two hits scored three runs for the Dogs. Toombs County would also tally five runs in the fourth inning. Alexis Hart, Lara Zamorano, Natalie Quintero, Emerson Powell, and Casey Cantwell each had RBIs in the frame.
Shay Stringer earned the victory in the circle for the Bulldogs. Stringer allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and only giving up one walk. Cantwell threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Zamorano, Aniston Powell, Cantwell, Autumn Jarriel, Hart, Mishi Smith, Nora Grace Mercer, and Riley Lumley each managed one hit to lead Toombs County.
All of our Dogs played hard today. We were able to get our young girls into the game early and let them experience some success.
The Lady Dogs look to turn things around in region play as they face Tattnall County on Thursday.
