Lady Dogs Win Big Over Wheeler 16-1

The Toombs County Lady Dog Softball team asserted its will over Wheeler County on its way to an easy 16-1 victory on Monday afternoon.

The  Lady Dogs pulled away for good with eight runs in the second inning. In that inning, Natalie Quintero’s sac fly scored one, an error added two runs, Aniston Powell’s single on a 1-0 count scored two more runs, Stringer’s single on a 2-2 count scored two runs, and Nora Grace Mercer’s single on the first pitch of the at-bat scored a run.

The Lady Dogs added eight runs in the fourth inning as well. Brinley Miller, Emerson Powell, Shakayla Joseph, Autumn Jarriel, and Mercer all drove in runs in the frame.

Stringer led Toombs County to victory in the pitcher’s circle. Stringer lasted four innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out five.

The Lady Dogs racked up 13 hits.  Stringer, Mercer, and Kassidy Brantley each collected two hits for Toombs. The Lady Dogs were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.
