Lyons, GA. – December 23, 2024 | Coach Melody Walker

———-

The Lady HoopDawgs are off to a 1-3 start this season but showed promise with their first win, a decisive 44-20 victory over region opponent Savannah Christian. Despite falling short in a close matchup against non-region opponent Bacon County, the team is demonstrating growth and determination as they aim for another state playoff appearance.

The team brings back four players from last season: Kayla Brewton, Shania Brown, and Brinley Miller, along with Shakayla Joseph and Yazmine Smith, who both return after sitting out last season due to knee injuries. The Lady HoopDawgs also welcome several newcomers, including Makenna Gardisser, Taylor Bland, Tanaya Simpson, Dashanti Badie, and Nionna Holland, who add depth and energy to the roster.

Junior Arianna Hill is leading the charge offensively, averaging 13 points per game, followed by Taylor Bland with 10 points per game and Brinley Miller with 9 points per game. On the defensive side, Kayla Brewton, Yazmine Smith, and Makenna Gardisser are stepping up with key steals and rebounds, providing consistent production for the team.

The Lady HoopDawgs will host Montgomery County on January 2nd. Be sure to come out and support Toombs County Basketball as the girls continue their season with eyes set on the playoffs!
