On Monday, Toombs County volleyball faced a challenging opponent as the region’s #1 team, Savannah Arts, came to town. The evening presented varied results for the Junior Varsity (JV) and Varsity teams.
The JV squad emerged triumphant, securing a victory in two sets (25-19 and 25-18). This victory marked their seventh consecutive win, an impressive achievement. Standout performances were delivered by Emma Wright with 11 service points, 4 aces, and 4 assists. Elida Cruz and Gracie Davila made significant contributions too, with Cruz achieving 10 service points and 2 aces and Davila contributing 6 service points. At the net, Nevaeh Fletcher demonstrated prowess with 6 kills, supported by Abby White and Alivia Patrick with 2 and 1 kills respectively. The JV team, currently boasting a 7-2 record, is gearing up for their next face-off against Jenkins this Thursday.
However, the Varsity team faced a more formidable challenge. Savannah Arts showcased their top-ranking prowess, besting the Lady NetDawgs with set scores of 13-25, 10-25, and 9-25.
Despite the scores, there were noteworthy performances from Toombs’ players. Anna Patrick demonstrated resilience at the net with 4 kills, while Arianna Hill shone with 5 service points and 2 kills. McKenzie Kilgore added 2 blocks, and both Makayla Brewton and Scarlett Stanley contributed with 7 digs each. The Varsity squad is setting their sights on their Tuesday matches against Bryan County, hopeful for a turnaround.
