Ledford’s Grand Slam Leads Bulldogs Past Metter in 11-7 Victory

The Toombs County Bulldogs Baseball team defeated the Metter Tigers 11-7 in a high-scoring affair on Thursday night. Cameron Ledford was the star of the show, driving in six runs on three hits, including a game-changing grand slam in the seventh inning.

The Bulldogs got on the board early, scoring two runs in the first inning on a Ledford single and a Metter error. They added another run in the second inning thanks to a Brantley Upshaw single.

Ledford’s bat came alive in the late innings doubling in the sixth inning to tie the game at 6-6, then delivering the decisive blow in the seventh with a grand slam to left field, putting the Bulldogs up 11-6.

Jackson Jenkins came on in relief and pitched four strong innings, striking out six and allowing only one earned run to secure the victory. TJ Stanley pitched three solid innings to start the game allowing only one hit.

The Bulldogs collected 10 hits as a team, with Upshaw and Trayvone Harris collecting multiple hits. They also displayed impressive discipline at the plate, drawing eight walks, led by Harris and Stanley with two each. Harris also stole two bases.

With this win, the Bulldogs continue their winning streak and maintain their momentum. They’ll look to carry their offensive firepower into their next matchup against the Bryan County Redskins on Monday at home. Game time is set for 5:45 pm.
