Men’s Basketball Dominant in Weekend Victories Over Windsor Forest and Twiggs Co.

Over the weekend, Toombs County’s basketball teams faced off against Windsor Forest and Twiggs County in both JV and Varsity matchups. The JV team split their games, going 1-1, while the Varsity team emerged victorious in both, boasting a 2-0 record.

In the JV matchup against Windsor Forest, the team faced a tough loss, falling 51-27. Qwan Monroe led the scoring with 9 points, followed by Jaden Gillis with 5 points. However, they bounced back in their game against Twiggs County, clinching a narrow 39-37 victory. Cornelius (Junior) Bullard stood out with 12 points, and both Tre Moore and Qwan Monroe contributed 6 points each.

The Varsity team continued their dominance, starting with a significant region game against Windsor Forest in Savannah on Friday night. Toombs County secured a convincing 63-46 win. The Bulldog win was fueled by the impressive performances of Dominic Eason, who racked up 25 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal. Jesus Quintero added 14 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals, while Demetrius (Juju) Cutler contributed 12 points, 10 rebounds, a block, and a steal. Parker Stanley also played a key role with 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists.

In Saturday’s home game against Twiggs County, Toombs continued their winning streak with a 68-37 victory. Eason again led the team with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Quintero followed closely with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Cutler added 10 points and 6 rebounds, Stanley contributed 7 points and 11 rebounds, and Mike Polke had a well-rounded game with 9 rebounds, 7 assists, and 7 steals.

This weekend showcased Toombs County’s strength and depth across both JV and Varsity teams, as they continue to build on their successes.
