Men’s Basketball Pulls Away Late in 65-44 Region Victory Over Brantley Co.

Toombs County’s basketball teams celebrated a hard-earned victory against Brantley County in both JV and Varsity match ups. The JV team concluded their season with a 36-28 win, achieving a 6-3 record for the year. Ty’Qwan Monroe led the scoring with 7 points, supported evenly by Tre Moore, Jaden Gillis, Jayden Mitchell, and Zaylan Davis, who each contributed 5 points. Congratulations to all JV players for a fantastic season, with high hopes for even greater success next year.

In the Varsity game, Brantley County, led by twin brothers Patrick and Tucker O’Quinn, kept the competition tight, with the first quarter ending with a 16-15 score. The Bulldogs would extend that to a 28-24 lead by halftime. The team further intensified their play in the second half, scoring 18-9 in the third quarter and 19-11 in the fourth, culminating in a 65-44 victory.

Dominic Eason spearheaded Toombs County’s effort with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Coming off the bench, Gavin Fletcher contributed 16 points and 2 blocks, while Jesus Quintero added 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals.

This win brings Toombs County to an impressive 16-2 overall record and 7-0 in the region.

Up next for Toombs County are back-to-back road games: first against Dublin on Friday (girls at 5:00 PM and guys at 6:30 PM), followed by a Saturday trip to Twiggs County (girls at 2:00 PM and guys at 3:30 PM).
