Lyons, GA. – January 22, 2024 | Head Coach Jared Goodwin

The Toombs County Bulldog Men’s Basketball team had a memorable Friday night as they hosted their cross-town rivals, Vidalia High School. Known for their challenging matchups in the past, this game turned out to be a memorable moment, especially for senior Jesus Quintero. In what might be his best performance yet, Quintero led the Bulldogs to a decisive 78-54 victory. His impressive stats for the night included 36 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals, with a spectacular 27 points coming from nine 3-pointers. His ability to turn the game around after an initial 1-for-4 start kept the crowd on their feet throughout the night.

The team effort was evident as Dominic Eason and Parker Stanley each added 9 points. Mike Polke and Demetrius (Juju) Cutler contributed 8 points each, Gavin Fletcher scored 5 points, and Marion James rounded off the scoring with 3 points. The rebounding game was strong, led by Eason with 8 rebounds. Cutler and Stanley followed with 6 rebounds each, James grabbed 5, Fletcher secured 4, and Polke contributed 2. Dominic and Juju also dished out 4 assists apiece.

This victory lifted Toombs County to a 15-2 overall record and a 6-0 standing in the region, giving them a two-game lead. With sights set on continual improvement and a strong finish, the team is gearing up for their next challenge against Brantley County on Tuesday, with games scheduled for JV at 4:15, Varsity Girls at 6:00, and Varsity Guys at 7:30.

A heartfelt thanks goes out to all the fans who packed the house this past Friday night. The team hopes for continued support at home games to witness the incredible feats these young men are achieving.
