The Toombs County Lady Dawgs continued their impressive run on Monday, securing a commanding 13-0 victory against the East Laurens Lady Falcons. Senior pitcher Shay Stringer was the star of the show, delivering a masterful performance from the mound.
Stringer dominated the Lady Falcons’ lineup, striking out 10 batters over four innings of work. She allowed just one hit and one walk, completely shutting down the East Laurens offense. Her stellar outing set the tone for the entire game, giving the Lady Dawgs’ offense plenty of room to operate.
At the plate, Taylor Bland led the charge for Toombs County, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two singles and a double. Bland’s consistency at the plate was a key factor in the Lady Dawgs’ offensive explosion.
Toombs County wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, capitalizing on an East Laurens error in the first inning to take an early lead. The second inning saw the Lady Dawgs break the game open, scoring five runs on two hits. Emerson Powell drew a walk to bring in a run, while Aniston Powell contributed with a sacrifice fly. Casey Cantwell also drove in a run with a groundout.
The offensive onslaught continued in the third inning, with Toombs County piling on six more runs. Bland’s double drove in two runs, while Nora Grace Mercer added a triple. Aniston Powell and Casey Cantwell each contributed RBI hits, and a dropped third strike allowed another run to score.
East Laurens struggled to contain the Lady Dawgs’ potent offense.
Defensively, Toombs County was flawless, committing no errors and turning a double play.
With this dominant performance, the Lady Dawgs improve their record to 11-2 overall 6-0 in region play. Toombs County will look to carry this energy into their upcoming game against St. Vincent’s Varsity Saints which has been changed to Wednesday, September 11 at Ambuc Park in Savannah.
