The Toombs County Bulldogs fell to rival Vidalia 7-4 on Tuesday in the first game of their region series.

Toombs struck first in the bottom of the second when Cameron Ledford launched a solo home run to left field. The Bulldogs pushed the lead in the third after Riley Kersey singled to drive in two runs, making it 3-1.

Vidalia tied the game in the third and took control in the fifth inning, capitalizing on three walks to score three runs and pull ahead 4-3. They extended their lead with additional runs in the sixth and seventh.

Nick Carroll gave Toombs a late spark with a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the seventh, but the rally fell short.

Tucker Braddy took the loss for Toombs, allowing four runs on five hits over 4.1 innings while striking out three.

Kersey led the Bulldogs with two RBIs, going 1-for-3 at the plate. Carroll, Brody Benton, Ledford, Kipp Mosley, Braddy, and Kersey each collected one hit. The Bulldogs were solid defensively, committing no errors.

The Bulldogs travel to Vidalia on Thursday for Game 2 of the region series and need either a win or a Savannah Christian loss to wrap up a Region Championship. They currently sit at 8-2 in region play. Game two is set for 5:45 pm, so be sure to make the short trip to Vidalia to support the DAWGS.
