Toombs County Baseball Powers Past Bacon County, 12–3

The Toombs County Bulldogs had things clicking Tuesday night as they rolled past Bacon County, 12–3, behind a big night at the plate from Nick Carroll.

Carroll showed great patience, reaching base three times on walks and coming through with key RBIs to help the Bulldogs take control early.

Toombs County got on the board first in the bottom of the first when Slade McDonald knocked in the game’s opening run with a single. Bacon County answered in the second to tie things up at 1–1, but the tie didn’t last long.

The Bulldogs exploded for six runs in the bottom of the second inning to pull away. Carroll delivered the highlight of the inning with a two-run double as Toombs County jumped out to a 7–1 lead. Two more runs came across in the third, and the Bulldogs never looked back.

“Nick set the tone for us at the plate tonight,” said head coach Derek James. “Our guys stayed patient, trusted the process, and put pressure on them all game. When we play disciplined baseball like that, good things happen.”

Ty Hutchinson got the start on the mound and turned in a strong outing, giving up just three hits and one unearned run over three innings while striking out five. Ryder Sears, Joseph Owens, and Brody Benton followed with scoreless relief to keep Bacon County quiet the rest of the way.

At the plate, McDonald, Carroll, Lawton Toole, and Cam Brown all picked up hits. The Bulldogs showed great discipline, drawing 11 walks and swiping 10 bases in the win, with McDonald, Owens, and Brown each stealing multiple bags.

Toombs County is back in action Tuesday when they take on Dublin.
