Toombs County Boys Basketball Falls to Top-Ranked Southwest Macon in Final Four

Lyons, GA. – March 4, 2025 | Head Coach Jared Goodwin

———-

The Toombs County Bulldogs saw their incredible postseason run come to an end on Saturday, falling to No. 1-ranked Southwest Macon in the Final Four, 65-54. After reeling off seven straight wins to punch their ticket to the semifinals, the Bulldogs battled hard but came up just short against a talented Southwest squad.

Toombs came out strong, winning both of the first two quarters (16-14 and 14-10) to take a 30-24 lead into halftime. However, Southwest Macon responded after the break, taking control in the second half and outscoring Toombs 18-10 in the third and 23-14 in the fourth to seal the win.

Despite the loss, the Bulldogs fought until the end and capped off an impressive season, finishing 18-12 overall, earning back-to-back Final Four appearances, and claiming the Region Championship.

This team also says goodbye to three impactful seniors: Mike Polke, Maurice Oglesby, and Jaydan Mitchell. Their leadership and contributions on and off the court will be greatly missed, and we wish them nothing but success in the future.

Final Four Game Stats:

  • Mike Polke: 21 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists
  • Parker Stanley: 7 points, 3 rebounds, 5 blocks, 1 steal
  • Cornelius “Junior” Bullard: 7 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal
  • Gavin Fletcher: 7 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal
  • Amari Eason: 6 points, 1 rebound
  • Tucker Braddy: 3 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist
  • Maurice Oglesby: 3 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal

Thank you to everyone who supported the Bulldogs this season. We’ll be back next year, ready to make another run!
