Lyons, GA. – April 24, 2024 | Coach Tyler Corley

In a thrilling showdown, the Toombs County Bulldogs Esports team emerged victorious against the #7 ranked Seckinger Jaguars to advance to the GHSA Esports State Championships for the second time in school history on Tuesday.

The match kicked off with a turf war battle where the Bulldogs managed to outmaneuver the Jaguars, claiming victory with a score of 46.5% to 38.9%. Senior Christian Castro led the charge for the Bulldogs with 11 splats in this round.

The Jaguars quickly countered, leveling the score with a win in the second-round Rainmaker match. Undeterred, the Bulldogs rallied in the third round, seizing control in Splat Zones for a knockout, regaining the lead, and setting the stage for a nail-biting finish.

The Bulldogs faced off against the Jaguars in Tower Control in what would be the final round of the match, determined to secure their spot in the state championships. They wasted no time, clicking 70 points off the board early in the round. Despite a valiant offensive push from the Jaguars, the Bulldogs showcased their defensive skills, holding off their opponents’ advances for the final three minutes of match time.

The Bulldogs will now advance to the semifinal round, facing off against Brookwood High School. The match is set to take place at the University of West Georgia on May 1st.

The state finals will follow the completion of both semifinal rounds, where the Bulldogs hope to claim the championship title for the first time.
