On Friday, the Toombs County Bulldogs opened region play on the road in Reidsville against the Tattnall County Battle Creek Warriors. Toombs County entered the game at 4-0 and Ranked #9 in Class AA football. The Dogs had a few miscues to battle back from in the first quarter, but after the quarter ended 0-0, it was all Toombs County the rest of the game.

On the Dogs first drive of the second quarter, Hayden Roy and the Toombs County offensive Line pushed their way into the end zone for their first score of the night on a 4-yard run by Roy. Braylen Dietrich popped the point after through to give the Dogs a 7-0 lead with 9:53 remaining in the half. The Red Bullet defense man-handled the Warrior offense all night, and on the next drive, forced another Warrior punt. The Dogs got the ball back with 7:54 remaining and drove 67 yards on 5 plays highlighted by another spectacular run my Roy where he rolled over a Warrior defensive back and continued on his way to the end zone for a 15 yard touchdown. The Bulldog lead was pushed to 14-0. After getting the ball back with 2:28, the offense went into 2-minute mode and scatted down the field. This drive was highlighted by a TJ Stanley to LaGonza Heyward 53-yard pass. Dabyn Wadley finished off the drive with a 2 yard TD run. The Bulldogs took a 21-0 lead into the half.

The second half opened up by a Ryder Sears hit that jolted the Warrior kick returner to fumble the ball and the Dogs recovered in Warrior territory. On the next play, Stanley found Mike Polke on a 28-yard TD pass increasing the lead to 28-0. The next Warrior drive was snuffed out to a 3 and out but a roughing the kicker penalty on the punt gave the Warriors an automatic first down and retained possession. Two plays later, Heyward picked a Warrior pass and raced 35-yards for another Bulldog TD. Dietrich’s point after gave the Dogs a 35-0 lead with 7:35 left in the 3rd quarter. The Dogs only ran 6 offensive plays following that due to a running clock in the 4th quarter. Alex Scott and Zyrese Scott highlighted the defense with 11 total tackles each.

The Bulldogs improve to 5-0 and 1-0 in Region play. Next up, the Bulldogs will host the Brantley County Herons at Booster Stadium.
