Cochran, GA – August 22, 2026 | Head Coach Jeremy Moore
The Toombs County cross country teams traveled to Cochran on Saturday to compete in the Clash of Classes. The event featured a two-mile race rather than the traditional 5K distance for high school runners.
On another hot morning, the Toombs County runners performed well. Head Coach Jeremy Moore noted that the shorter distance makes it difficult to measure improvement from the team’s 5K races, but the runners recorded good splits on a challenging Bleckley course.
Despite the heat and tougher course, Moore felt the teams ran better than they had the previous week. The focus following the Jeff Davis meet was to train hard each week and improve with every race.
Toombs County has an off week before traveling to Wayne County for its first weekday race. The Wayne County course normally produces faster times, and the teams hope the break and another two weeks of hard training will lead to faster performances than they recorded in the first race of the season.
