Toombs County collected 16 hits in a 16-1 road victory over Tattnall County on Thursday.

Lindy Morris led the offense with a 3-for-3 performance that included two doubles and three RBIs. She singled in the first inning before adding doubles in the second and third.

The Bulldogs scored twice in the first. Peyton Bland reached on a single, and an error allowed the first run to score before Saige White brought home another run with a groundout.

Toombs County broke the game open with five runs on six hits in the second inning. Cyleigh Ennis delivered an RBI single, Morris added an RBI double, and Leighton Williams and Kylah Gay each contributed run-scoring singles.

The Bulldogs added six runs on four hits in the third. Morris drove in two with a double, Williams and White each hit sacrifice flies, Gay added an RBI double, and Kylie Carroll followed with an RBI single. Williams finished the game with three RBIs.

Taylor Bland earned the win in the circle, allowing five hits and one run over four innings. She struck out four and did not issue a walk.

Ennis and Gay were among the Bulldogs who recorded multiple hits as Toombs County received production throughout the lineup.

Head Coach Hayne Brant said the team’s approach at the plate and ability to maintain pressure were keys to the victory.

“I was really proud of our approach today. We came out aggressive, had quality at-bats and continued to put pressure on them throughout the game. When we play with that kind of energy and confidence, we’re a tough team to stop.”

Toombs County will return home Monday for a rematch with Tattnall County.
