The Toombs County soccer teams returned home from Savannah with an impressive sweep, showcasing resilience, determination, and standout performances from several underclassmen.
The Lady Dawgs secured a 3-1 victory behind a strong offensive effort led by freshmen Kanijah Toby and Kylah Gay. Toby netted two goals, while Gay added another to seal the win and continue the team’s momentum early in the season.
The boys team delivered a thrilling comeback in a hard-fought region matchup. After falling behind 2-0 early, the Dawgs battled back with two goals each from Daniel Santoyo and Juan Luna to even the score at 4-4. Following two scoreless overtime periods, the match was decided in a penalty shootout.
Freshman goalkeeper Bradley Perez, making his first varsity start, came up with a crucial save in the third round to keep the Dawgs in contention. With the pressure mounting, freshman Palmer Davis stepped up and calmly converted the decisive penalty kick—his second clutch performance of the season—to secure the region win.
Both teams demonstrated grit and composure, leaving Savannah with two well-earned victories and building confidence as the season progresses.
