Toombs County Soccer Opens Region Play with Sweep at Windsor Forest

Lyons, GA. – February 18, 2024 | Coach Jeremy Moore

The Toombs County soccer teams opened region play on Friday night, traveling to Savannah to take on the Windsor Forest Knights. The girls started out the evening with a 10-0 win. Emma Wright led the offense with her first career hat trick, and also chipped in with an assist. Emerson Powell, Aubrey Gay, and Aniston Powell each tallied 2 goals, while Maritza Zamorano added 1 goal. The defense pitched their 2nd consecutive shutout. The girls are now 2-1 on the season, and 1-0 in region play.

The boys matchup proved to be much closer, and would be scoreless at the break. In the 2nd half, Braylen Dietrich scored on a free kick, and that would be the only offense the bulldogs would need, as the defense, and goalkeeper Tucker Brodnax would record the clean sheet, and would secure the 1-0 win. The bulldogs are now 3-0 on the season, and 1-0 in region play.

Both teams will be back in action at home Tuesday night as they host Pierce County for another big region matchup. Be sure to come out and support our Women’s and Men’s soccer teams!

GO TOOMBS!
