Upshaw and Jenkins Lead Offense as Bulldogs Claw Back to Defeat Savannah Country Day 9-7

The Toombs County Bulldogs baseball team dug deep and fought back for a 9-7 victory over the Savannah Country Day Hornets on Wednesday! Brantley Upshaw and Jackson Jenkins were both offensive heroes, with Upshaw going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, two singles, and an RBI and Jenkins finishing the day going 3-for-4.

The Hornets struck first, scoring four runs in the first two innings. But the Bulldogs refused to fold. In the bottom of the fourth, a barrage of doubles by Trayvone Harris, Jackson Jenkins, and Cameron Ledford ignited a 7-run rally, tying the game at 7-7.

Trayvone Harris pitched three strong innings in relief, striking out five and allowing only two runs to secure the win for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs offense came alive, collecting 13 hits led by Upshaw and Jenkins’ 3-hit performances. Jenkins also drove in a team-high 3 runs, showcasing his clutch hitting throughout the night. Ledford and Stanley contributed multiple hits as well.

The Bulldogs demonstrated impressive discipline at the plate, drawing seven walks as a team. Harris led the way with two walks, contributing to the team’s smart approach at the plate.

With a potent offense and solid pitching, the Bulldogs look poised for continued success as they navigate the rest of the season.

They will face the Coffee County Trojans Thursday, February 15, 2024 at home at 5pm. Be sure to come out and support the DAWGS!
