The Lady Dawgs put up a valiant effort against ECI, but ultimately fell 7-3 in a close match.
Casey Cantwell had a great day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two singles and a double. Shay Stringer also had a good day, going 2-for-3 with two singles and a walk.
The Lady Dawgs got off to a good start, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Emerson Powell hit a single, followed by a Cantwell single that drove in one run. Stringer then hit a single that drove in the second run, tying the game at 1-1. ECI responded with four runs in the top of the second, taking a 5-2 lead.
The Lady Dawgs were unable to score in the next four innings, and ECI added two more runs in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the seventh, Nora Grace Mercer would reach on an error, and Stringer would follow with a single. Natalie Quintero would drive in the final run of the game with a single, but the Lady Dawgs would take the loss, 7-3.
Despite the loss, the Lady Dawgs put up a good fight and showed great resilience. They are back in action on Wednesday at home against Long County.
