Varsity Boys Get Back on Winning Track with 64-35 Win Over Brantley County

The Hoop Dawgs were able to get back on the winning track on Friday night winning their first region game of the year against Brantley County.

In the first quarter, the Bulldogs came out hot and executed really well on both the offensive and defensive ends. Dominic Eason and Marion James were able to get the offense going by dominating inside and getting some easy points in the paint. Some timely 3’s and continued offensive execution helped the offense have a tremendous first quarter. Defensively, after giving up a couple of tough baskets early on, they locked in and had a 25-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was much of the same on both ends of the court as the defense continued to stay locked in and the offense continued to execute well. At the end of the second quarter, the Dawgs led 36-18.

In both the third and fourth quarters, the Hoop Dawgs continued to play really well on both ends. Several Dawgs came in and played really well and were able to push the lead to as much as 31 points during the second half. After the final buzzer sounded the Bulldogs were on the winning side with a score of 64-35.

Dominic Eason led the Dawgs with 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. Demetrius Cutler had 10 points and 5 rebounds. Braylan McMillian had 9 points and 5 rebounds. Team stats on the night were impressive with the Dawgs shooting well from the floor, and moving the ball around. On the night the Bulldogs had 17 assists on 26 made shots with Mike Polke accounting for 7 assists himself. They also were able to dominate in the paint scoring 40 of the 64 points on the night in the paint.

The Dawgs (6-1, 1-1) will have one more game before a brief break for Christmas when they return on Tuesday to play against Telfair County. JV Boys will be at 4:30 pm, Varsity Girls at 6:00 pm, and Varsity Boys at 7:30 pm.
